Grinchmas

The South Baldwin Literacy Council traveled all the way to Whoville this holiday season. In partnership with the Gulf State Park, SBLC sponsored the Whoville Library for children and their families. Tutors read stories aloud to attendees and children took home an early Christmas present - a hardback Dr. Seuss book! Our community's families received 1000 books in total this Christmas season!

Christmas Card Lane

The South Baldwin Literacy Council won 1st Place in Gulf State Park's Christmas Card Lane competition. Our beautiful sign was written, designed, and hand painted by one of our very own staff members. We are so happy to spread the message of what South Baldwin Literacy Council has done over the last forty years!

Polar Express

The South Baldwin Literacy Council hosted their Annual Polar Express event at Foley's Heritage Park. Dr. Robert Williams, a loyal tutor and board member, lead a night full of wonder by reading The Polar Express to an audience of over one hundred students and their families. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus got an invitation! Each student received a beautifully illustrated edition of The Polar Express to take home to enjoy with their families for years to come.

Mathis Book Giveaway

The South Baldwin Literacy Council kicked off National Family Literacy Month by reading to the first grade classes at Florence B. Mathis Elementary School. Each first grader received three, beautiful hardback books to cherish and call their very own. In total, 442 books were handed out and the fun we had was immeasurable!
