Volunteers are vital to the success of the South Baldwin Literacy Council. Without our volunteers, our community's literacy needs would not be met. In 2022 alone, we provided services to over 1,200 students. Our volunteers make an invaluable and intangible difference in our community. Volunteer opportunities are always available. From tutoring students to delivering books, we always have a place for you.

Changing Student's Beliefs
I started volunteering over a year ago and have loved it ever since. Everyone at SBLC is so amazing, welcoming, and so friendly. From the staff to the volunteers to the kids, we are one big family and it shows in everything we do. SBLC has so many different programs that they offer to our community. The summer reading program is so great for the kids. They are able to learn about many different countries, their cultures, history, food, and general life. It really takes these kids on a 6-week long adventure. I love making a difference in each child's life and being able to see them progress through the year. For some of our kids, the help and encouragement that we all give them really makes a difference in how not only they see themselves, but how they believe in themselves as well.
